History
Chief Freight Lines was started by George A Rediehs in 1954 after his discharge from the Army. He mustered all the money he could and bought his first truck for $750. For the first 18 years of business, we operated as n instar-state Illinois carrier.
In 1978 we purchased additional operating authority which allowed us to expand beyond the Midwest Region.
1980 Brought the advent of deregulation and Chief Freight Lines, like so many others, took the opportunity to expand into all 48 states. Even though we are authorized to operate in all states, we primarily focus in the Midwest.
In 1999, Chief Freight Lines was sold to Tom and John Rediehs. The company has since obtained dedicated business, and opened additional locations in the Midwest.

Chief Freight Lines has been serving the steel industry since its founding in 1954. Over the years we have developed an excellent reputation as a steel hauler. We have also expanded into other commodities throughout our 62-year history. Today Chief serves many industries, including, pipe, lumber, aluminum, & machinery.
